Brown Rice Flour or Rye Flour?

I've seen the teks using BRF and vermiculite in cakes, and I've seen the casing teks using rye, but has anyone had experience with rye flour and verm in cakes? I ask because the BRF is about $5 and the rye flour is $3. I'm sure I could try it myself and money is not an issue here, but I don't want to waste time if one is more effective than the other.
By the way, I like the idea of casing much better than cakes, as they seem to be much more efficient and yeild better looking fruits. Can I break up cakes into another substrate and case that?

Rye has a higher count of bacterial endospores.
Be on the safe side and go with the BRF.

Rye works great! But be prepared to to do a more through job of dry mixing when preparing the jars as rye flour gets pretty damn sticky once it's moistened down. Don't worry about bacterial endospores they won't be a problem if you prepare your jars properly. GL

I switched to rye flour and won't go back to brf. Mix the water and vermiculite first, then blend in the rye flour. Yes you can break up the cakes into another substrate and case that.
