I'd wash them. steralizing them is probably enough, but it takes about 2 1/2 minutes to wash them, and you don't know where they've been sitting or for how long.
as to how i steralize, i boil them, but i dont' like it. i wish i had a pressure cooker, but my cash flow is going the wrong way right now.

I soked my new jars in 10% bleach and 90%water for 5 hours then washed and rinsed them real well. If I had a pressure cooker at the time I would just pop em in for 15 min at 15PSI and be done with it......

( MY PRESSURE COOKER IS ON THE WAY!!!!!YEA! )

I soaked mine in bleach for a day, then a H202/h20 mixture for another day, then a light spray with lysol, and I still got contams, I pressure cooked them too.

Hey Pan, was your contam level down from the bleach?Bleach is probably a good thing to use eh.(as I scratch my goaty) hmmmmm I guess I will soak them in bleach and water, boil em then wash em.Thanks for the help guys! :biggrin:

I am gonna try the quarter pint jars because it is fuckin immpossible to find the halfs here, since it is out of season.These probably have been sitting on the shelf for awhile, so I guess I willl take all precautions!
