The Office
    #6899620 - 05/10/07 09:50 PM (16 years, 11 months ago)

Just watched the new episode, and this show really is genius. Laughed my ass off. Not much TV makes me do that... ever. Only the classics. I think this is becoming one.

Anyone watch it?

I like it.  They keep it light and funny while still having a great storyline.

I could never catch the american version, being that I dont really watch any tv except hbo and movies
but I bought the box set of the uk version a year or so ago and I fucking loved it, I watch it quite often. the xmas special wrapped the show up so well.
ricky gervais is so fucking funny in it, made me cry of laughter multiple times...too many good moments in that show to name

They've become two completely separate entities. I think the American is going further with the idea, but you have to respect the original. When I first watched the UK DVD, I couldn't stop watching until the series was over. They were so addicting. I watched the first two seasons in probably 4 days.

I like the British version, but you really have to concentrate to understand those bloody wankers!

I've heard a lot of people say that the UK version is better, but I have to think that they are just jumping on the bandwagon. I've watched both, but the UK version is so dry and a lot of the parts that are supposed to be funny just aren't in my opinion. I give the English version credit for being there first, but I definitely prefer the American remake.

subtitles
I actually use subtitles for almost everything I watch now for some reason...

they even have a uk slang translator thing on the special features

Yeah, it really nails the awkwardness that accompanies office life. When the people around you aren't really your friends, but they'll do because you're all in it together.
