could you use rye grain flour or any other type of grain flour instead of BRF in the pf tek?

i have never used brf, i love the way rye flour works.... tried quinoi flour once, but wasnt impressed. the main thing is its organic and unprocessed.

Yes...some use dark rye flour but I had poor results with it. Stick with BRF if you can. IMO

thanx guys. i have been using BRF without any problems, i just wanted to experiment with some new stuff. anyways i took some kashi( which is a seven grain product) and ground it into powder. im gonna try this. i tried doing grains without any luck, so hopefully this might work..

I tried DRF...it was non-additive stuff and colonized nicely but I got bacterial blooms and would of had to let the jars sit for 24h before sterilization to overcome this so I saif fuck it and stuck with BRF.

Wheat flour also seems to work well in SWIMS experiments anywho......better than BRF.............

I've tried most of the different flour types, and actually prefer the dark rye flour... even tried the processed rye flour from a supermarket. It worked well with only a little slower colonization rate... but no cantamination.
