stumped again.

cap: umbonate i guess, orange in the center to light tan going out,little serations on the edges.cap is smooth to slightly tacky.

gills:brownish purple.close or sub distant.attached to the stem.

spore print: purple brown.

stem:goes yellow from the base to white at the gills.no fibrilose or membranous annular zone to speak of.

habitat: elm, poplar, and oak woods,shaded area.

growing from rotted forest debris close to a rotted log.


small mushrooms,about an 2 inches tall, cap about an inch and an eighth.

Given the spore print color and appearance, I'd guess at a Psathyrella. Did it have a snappy stem?

no, stems are bendable.I havent seen it in my books or on the internet.

It's the purple part of the purple brown spore print that has me stumped. If it's just more plain brown I'd be tempted to say Agrocybe. Why don't you just eat a bunch of them and tell us what happens in a couple of days? - FOR ALL THE NOOBS OUT THERE - I'M JUST KIDDING

My feelings exactly. The pictures look like Agrocybe but the purple element is vexing.

they do kind of look like agrocybe firma but mine dont have a ring.I'll put the spore print on tonight, then you fellers will see.

firma doesnt show the ring I just read ,but the spore print is off as mentioned.

The habitat and spore print color suggest that those are Stropharias.

its not my pic, xmush,its a comparison to mine way at the beginning of this post .you know anything about stropharia percevalli?i dont know dude, the gill color is not the same to me.just trying to put a name to my pictures but not much luck so far.keeping a little cd catoalog.yep, dont know about stropharia.

Oh, lol, thought that was a new pic from your find. Does look a bit different. However if yours truly have a purple-brown print, then Stropharia is a likely bet. But your print looks pretty faint (at least on camera) for me to know for sure.
