WBS Spawned To Coir. 4 Days (3 pics)

This is Hawaiian on WBS spawned to coir.
-> 2 quarts spawned to ~ 10 – 12 quarts coir. -> 1.5 oz pure vegetable oil thoroughly mixed in coir. -> Approximately 15% spent coffee grounds. -> 2 tsp OSF.
-> Four Days since spawned, does colonization look normal? -> Any input on additives used would be nice. -> Plan to case with verm/coir in GH.
-> How long should I wait to case. RR mentioned one can case ~80%. Should I wait?

I'd wait, a couple days after full colonization. But if RR says 80% then it's probably ok.

sounds pretty good, but im not the best judge. im waiting for some wbs to colonize right now. goin pretty slow. i dont think i had heard of using vegetable oil straight up in the substrate, can you tell me what this does and how well it works? im really really hopin to get a flush done and dried by june. any of those additives speed up the process?
looks real good tho man, on my last casing it was a little less colonized than that when i cased and it turned fine, but then again, that was my first casing. peace

Vegetable oil speeds up colonization time. Small amounts of kelp meal are good for nutrient diversity.

Yeah, your mix after four days looks about like straight coir would be after 10-12 days.
Nice.

I just got ahold of that artical a few days ago, i believe that the purpose of those experiments were to determin if the added supplements had any effects on the amount of fruit produced. after reading it the best additive was 1460g of rye flour and 400 ml of cotton seed oil. those amounts were mixed in after the bulk substrate had been colonized. the amount of substrate was 4 sq ft at aprox 5" thick. the colonized sub was shreded and mixed with supplements then placed back in to there containers and cased with approx 1" of past top soil

(I would think that you would have a significant contamination threat though....but interesting nonetheless)

thats what i was thinking as well. but i gave it a shot on my last coir spawn well see here shortly. all that flour is pretty dry as well. but it worked for them so i thought it was worth a shot.

How can I spawn to coir from a couple of jars? Throw everything into a ziplock? (proper dunknroll/verm added to jar first?)
