Cordyceps Mushrooms

Hey everyone, Alright here's the story. I was watching a documentary on Planet Earth and I saw this one species of mushroom called Cordyceps. Apparently, when insects eat this mushroom, they appear to "go crazy". One ant ate it and a few other ants actually had to carry it away and dump it far from the colony. After a while, the Cordyceps mushroom would kill the infected insect and then the spores of the Cordyceps mushroom would actually sprout from the insects body. It was the craziest thing I had ever seen. I googled Cordyceps Mushroom and I realized that it is actually used for medicinal purposes among humans. My question is, does anyone have any further information regarding these mushrooms, or know of a good site where i can get information?
Thanks people

Google for information.

I saw an X-files episode where Scully or Mulder or both of them got trapped in a subterranean mushroom and it was trying top eat them. It was giving them these crazy time loops and wild experiences so they wouldn't realize that the mushroom was trying to eat them. I'd like to see that one again...
If you want really good info on cordyceps, go to Aloha Medicinals, they've done A LOT of work with cordyceps, and actually created a hybridized strain that in laboratory analysis showing that their hybrid produces 5 times the amount of bioactives when compared to the best wild/naturally occurring cordyceps. Here is a page on their HP LC analysis http://alohamedicinals.com/Analysis.htm
This paper here describes the process used for hybridization and some of their methods. This paper converted me into a promoter of their products and services... http://alohamedicinals.com/cordy_IJMM_hybrid_article.pdf
This one here is said to be one of the most complete articles on cordyceps... http://alohamedicinals.com/Cordy_Article.pdf
I buy cordyceps 5x Hybrid from them in a bulk tin - one kilo for $75. When you think about it, you see the cordyceps products in the health stores for $20-$35 for what amounts to about 2 ounces at most of actual cordyceps. Now you get 35 ounces for $75! That's just a good purchase if you ask me. Besides its tested at such a high level of bioactives...1 kilo is enough to take 2 grams every day for a year and a half. You do have to cap it yourself though. No big deal, just get one of those vitamin cappers at GNC-type stores and some empty gel-caps. You can make 50 capsules at a time, and they are about .5-.75 gram each. I just make a month's supply at a time, and keep the rest in the fridge. JD
