texas finds
    #6874260 - 05/05/07 01:02 AM (14 years, 12 days ago)

hello went out to a new field today found a few nice copes

That was cool, found about a dose, but my real find is these pann subbs, I took a spore print that came out jet black. Found these in some newly laid sod in my front yard, I am thinking maybe the sod was colonized at its location, then it fruited at my house?

Picture perfect subbs.

Though, I would be more excited to find Copes, than Subbs, if you've only found one type, the new is always a pleasant surprise.

true curecat most people would be thrilled with the potent copes, but I have never seen a pan subb before and I love seeing new magical species.

Your subs look like foes to me. Although I am no expert in the area. I guess if they have a jet black print that's what they are. Some foes have a very dark brown print though even almost looking like black. Let me know if you trip off them, I am interested.

I've had many subbs that look like foes. if the prints black, I keep em. cuz the only other things it could be are other lawn panaeolus like microspora and castanefiolus. 9/10 times the black spored foes are gangly lookin subbs.

Congrats on the copes & the subbs. I have found many a cope, but I have never found any subbs. I am looking forward to go hunting this next week. I think that it will be great all along the Gulf Coast!

man, I need to start trying to ID the pan subb looking ones I see all the time. I doubt I'll find anything, but I gotta keep trying, cause I see similar looking mushrooms all the time, and I just blow it off because of the small likelyhood of them being actives.

I saw a clump of about 15 of those growing by the street on the edge of the sidewalk today. Maybe not pan subbs, but they looked just like that pic. Damn brain... stop rationalizing!
