question about garage band..

i finally got an interface so i can record into my computer, and I'm using garage band to do this.. at the recommendation of a friend, and since it's already on my computer.

The trouble is, I just tried to record a mix and it cuts off at ~30 mins.. 999 bars of music.

Is there a way to lengthen the amount of music i can record in? I'd like to be able to lay down at least an hour of recording at a time.. or more. Can i do this in garage band?

I haven't been able to find anything in the help, so I'd appreciate anything you guys can give me.

I must admit I don't really understand what you are asking, do you mean you already recorded for more than 30 minutes and when you try to mixdown it won't let you?
Or do you mean it won't let you record more than 30 minutes of music at all?

it's sort of moot at this point, i forgot that i have ableton and can record into that.

but, i would like to know, anyways.

The only reason you would be limited is if its A) a demo version or B ) your running out of room on your HD. Are you just strait recording 30min takes? Anyway, check your hard drive space. .Wav files are huge and can take up lots of space really fast.

i thought it may be a space issue.. this computer is full up w/ shit, i've been trying to clean it up over the past few weeks..

that's probably it, then.

Ableton worked fine.... 91mins recorded w/ no problems.

now i've just got to convert this monster .aiff file to mp3 and i'm gold!

You should probably know that every minute of music in wav format takes 10MB of disk space, so if you're talking about 30 minutes of about 5 tracks for example it'd take 1,5GB of space!

Aiff takes about the same too.
