It hasnt rained in a week, and I found p. cubensis today. I seen a huge one from the road today, had to be at least a 6 inch cap. When I seen that one, it prompted me to check a field that I could get in with no problem. Found a few, they arent really in any shape for a photograph, one nice sized one, but it was a little dried out. I am willing to bet the next good rain marks the start of our cube season!

yep serveral people have been finding a couple, i found one the other day, hopefully this next rain system should bring good rain/shrooms

oh its already started, trust me.  weve been pullin em in all week this week a little bit at a time. got a few grams dry for the weekend.

unfortunately im just east of where the most recent rains have jumped up north so im not having that great of luck at the moment

Absolutely! It rained from 8 this morning, to about 3 this afternoon. It's still sprinkling here and there.
This was the weather I've been waiting on. I'm sure I'll have photographs of my finds coming real soon. Tomorrow night is going to be lovely.

The Sarasota area will remain dry until at least late-May/early-June. And that is if you are lucky.
The only other cow patty mushrooms that will grow before then are just a single Panaeolus antillarum (non-active) here and there.
Then in late-May early-June when the rains start to come every day you begin seeing Agaricus mushrooms growing in the fields, and an increased presence of Pan antillarum. Maybe some early Panaeolus subbalteatus. Shortly after that the rain will increase to daily and then the Psilocybe cubensis and Copelandia cyanescens will begin to appear. For the summer season.
They also grow in the months of late-November, December and early-January. A winter season.
For the sarasota area.

we had an awesome winter season. infact, I'm planning all my hunts this season for fields that was producing well during the winter season. i keep going to a field this friend told me about, or a field that this other person said was good.. and everytime I try the field someone tells me about, I walk out empty handed.

Yea, you are considered to be in the Gulf Coast. Any area that hugs the Gulf of Mexico is gonna be the Gulf Coast.

we have beenb getting a shit load of rain lately but every where i go i see roted mushrooms or no mushrooms im going to go hunting when it drys up a bit and quits raining

Have you ever seen any exceptions when it is very dry such as now in Florida, but near a stream or lake in a cow field?

yeah its way too wet. it rained for 36 hours here off and on and stayed 95%+ RH all night. went out into the field and it was literally like clouds on the ground, a real pea souper; just mist EVERYWHERE. it felt like a fruiting chamber out there. could barely see 10 feet in front of me but it looked really cool with the full moon peekin through. mushrooms everywhere but after 2 hours of searchin only 2 soaked cubes. it was hard to get them to blue and they almost looked like subcubensis or somethin.
