Casing a couple of PF cakes - "casing 101" + verm/coir?

I have a couple of PF cakes that I'd like to case. My research tells me that using the Casing 101 method, using Roadkill's 60/40 verm coir casing mix is a good way to go. I have coir but no peat -- should I buy some peat and do a peat / verm casing layer instead? Any pitfalls to know about, this will be my first casing ever. Thanks.

My plan was to follow Casing 101 exactly. I am interested in this as a learning / hobby experience and not going for yield.

Thank you. Unfortunately I have more than one reason to want to case the cakes. Both for learning / try something new and because it will not be possible to extract the cakes from the jars in one intact piece.

okay. i would go with the 50/50 peat verm for a casing layer not the 60/40 coir verm. i read on here that a casing layer is just a non nutrient layer that helps retain the moisture and coir has a lot of nutes in it but if you have coir you might as well spawn that way you can learn that technique also. best of luck
