KS mushroom - ID request

Hey everyone. I found this mushroom earlier and I wasn't quite sure what it is. Any ideas?





Habitat: Found growing on lawn
Gills: Appear black, though may be very dark brown. Gills are attached.
Stem: cream to yellow colored
Cap: Golden brown to dark orange color, edges are more brown
Spore print: Dark brown, almost black
Bruising: cap bruises dark brown to black
Location: Picked in Northeast Kansas

Coprinus Micaeus. aka an inky cap. Not active or recommended as edible. they look very cool when they grow in large clusters. They can be found almost year round.

these grow in my lawn also my neighbors dog ate some and got all sick

That mushroom isn't particularly toxic, it is likely that the dog was eating lots of random stuff in the yard that ended up making him sick.

Unless the dog had been drinking...

Any mushroom can cause illness when consumed raw, even edible ones. The commonly cultivated Agaricus brunnescens (aka button, portobello, cremini) seems to be one of the few exceptions.

yeah. gastric upset is quite common. its hard for your stomach to digest them.

i was joking i cant sleep without the damn dog im used to it but it was annoying for the first few weeks lol i like cats cuz they r quiet and dont bark at the neighbors or birds or in my case bats
