Anyone had any yet sofar? Seems like that winter cold spell put a damper on the spring season. I'm on Vancouver Island, haven't had much luck yet.
Also: check out this link, provided for us by the wonderful government of Canada!
Gilled Mushrooms of the PNW This thing is an absolute marvel. You can compare different mushroom species with each other, plus their pictures of each species are absolutely beautiful.
This should help all yall in the PNW.

I haven't found anything yet either. I'm in the greater Vancouver area. Anyway, that site is awesome. Thanks for the link.

only thing i have seen around skagit valley is gymnopilus. I am not sure which species, hard to be sure id is dubious for that group. I thought i found a single stunzii on a lawn today but upon closer inspection found it was not a stunzii. That was a great story. KEEp roawkin,

What are the mushroooms to look for during the summer season in the Pacific North West?
Also, generally speaking, where to look for them? Big forests (ie the ones around mount ranier or in the north cascades)? Wooded areas of parks? Grassy fields? Cow pastures? Nursureries?
thanks

Hey kapowsin, go check out John W. Allan's (aka MJ Shroomer) guide to mushroom species which tells the species' season and habitat. This link also helps with the general habitat. Look anywhere and everywhere and eventually you'll find some!
Here's that URL for you BrokeDownPalace: http://www.pfc.cfs.nrcan.gc.ca/biodiversity/matchmaker/index_e.html

Hi. I appreciate the reply. Actually I already have looked at that, and also have spent several hours trying to absorb what I could in Stamets books on psilocybic mushrooms...
I was hoping for more specific information....
When you (or anyone who knows what they are doing), goes mushroom hunting in the northwest during summer, what species do you look for? Is there anything out there in the summer besides pan subbs?

what kind of mushrooms in the pnw in the summer?
well you got yer poisonous ones, yer dam poisonous ones and the occasional one that won't hurt you too much. if you're looking for the ones that can take you to fairy-land, you'll have to wait till at least august.
