Time to start planning a hunt very soon!
The rain came yesterday afternoon for us. I work in Carlyss, and it was hot and sunny all day, until I got off. By the time I got to Moss Bluff, it was pouring. Rained for about 2 hours yesterday, and it came through again today. Bout the same as yesterday, hot and sunny all day, until I got off. As soon as we was leaving the jobsite, it started raining.
I'm a little concerned about how damn dry it has been over the past couple weeks. I hope our fungus friend has not been negatively affected by it. Whats good about our hot, dry days is that each and every night, everything always moistens up a bit, so hopefully its been enough to maintain the mycelium.
They'll be poppin for the next few days, but after that 2nd and 3rd day is when the newcomers are nice sized. So I say Friday is my day, it's gonna be a trippy weekend.
Good luck shroomers, especially my Gulf Coast neighbors.. reppin from the bottom of the boot.

lol, nobody is mad. Since you felt the need to religously correct someone's post, I felt the need to point out that god had nothing to do with the weather.. of course, IMO.

a cop pulled in front of me and my friend while we were driving away from a field with about 1/2 lb of shrooms. he was searching a field down the road with his spotlight and pulled right in front of us and blocked us for a minute while he looked. talk about a pant-shitter. i don't think i'll be hunting too much more this season

Check a different field, the one your looking in might not be active yet, but many many others are.

Just find a different field
Hit a small producer up today, only found a few cubes. I've planned a hunt for tomorrow and the next day, so I'll definetely update my thread with this haul.

To IMPLEE,
You need to check different fields. I have had some luck over the last 6 weeks, but not at this moment. Good Luck to you!

Yea, that sounds accurate, because I've been finding nice fruits for about the past 2 months. If you go out, and the conditions are good and you dont find anything, your in the wrong field. Check a different one and you'll strike.

Mobile, Alabama. The fields are abloom with white pearls. I can see them from the road as I drive to work. I haven't eaten any since 1998. Should I try them once again at the ever slightly ripened age of 27? Hopping fences and striking Bics...memories. Ever smell a cube right before you see it? If you are ever hunting and smell a mushroom, stop immediately and look around you, it ain't far away. And those copes. I never knew those were active, I always tossed them to the side or ignored them because they weren'y cubies. Are there Cope lookalikes in this region to beware of?
-------------------- My favorites are weeping willows, which aren't really weeping at all. They're very wispy, witty and will dance in the breeze with you. Nothing like a tree that wants to dance with you. Although it doesn't like its thin limbs being pulled at all, it absolutely LOVES it when you walk through them, letting them gently slide over your face and shoulders. If you're naked, the willow considers it to be sex. It will orgasm on your mind and you will blow dream chunks into outer space. All very fun until your neighbor sees you. -The Joekenorer

The only real poisonous look-a-likes that people post pictures of are generally Chlorphyllum molybdites, aka green gills, and I guess a poisonous Agaricus is always a possibility in a pasture. But neither of those are true dung dwellers, but they can be in the pasture. As far as on the dung, Coprinus species or Panaeolus species that are inactive are the other main things that you will find. Neither are likely to be poisonous, but of course you don't want to eat a mushroom that you are not 100% sure of the ID on. So refresh your memory on Cubes and read up on Copes, and then post your finds here for the greenlight.
Goodluck.
