Spent Cakes = inoculate Leftover WBS?

I have some spent cakes that I was getting ready to toss, and then I spotted a quart of WBS I had PCed two days ago and was sitting there...so I sterilized my glove box, cleaned the room, and crumbled the cakes into the WBS.
Was this a bad idea?
I'll certainly have an answer soon, but in the meantime, anyone ever do this?
What would be the downsides?

i was under the impression from previous posts that a "spent cake" is just that...spent. its made its run and if you tried to reuse it you'll just be setting your self up for an upset. even if it fruits im assuming that it would be like a 3rd, 4th flush like pinset and outcome

i am under the same impression dizzy_jester is. however, i dont believe theres any set time when the mycelium is 'spent', it varies between species -- so as long as you dont have anything better to do with the WBS you PC'd, it couldnt hurt to try it. you might get lucky
Edit: Read further down, this post is disqualified by likely presence of contaminants.

Yeah, it's been sitting for 2 days. I'll let you know in a couple more.
I was of the opinion that the mycelium will "search" for more food, and if its present, will colonize it.
If I'm right, I will be VERY happy.

it's called contamination. those cakes aren't sterile. do you want to breed a jar full of bacteria/mold?

It's more than just contamination. Here's another thread about it.

Ain't gonna work. It's been tried hundreds of times before. You just inoculated sterile grains with unsterile stuff. You'll see green soon. RR
