need quick help on math(sawdust bags)

stamets says quote

64 gallons sawdust
32 gallons woodchips
8 gallons bran
1gallons gypsum

then he says 20% bran but 64+32=96--20%=19.2 which is not 8

QUESTION ONE:

anyways my

anyways my main question is i have a 1 gallon pitcher so i was thinkin

fill it up 2 times with sawdust pellets
fill 1 time with wood chips
fill half with bran
then 1 cup of gypsum

does that sound about right??

QUESTION TWO

with the above recipe is it ok to use dry wood pellets or do i need to wet them first(they expand).

does anyone know how much pellets expand by volume? like should i just use 1 gallon of pellets as it expands to 2 gallons later?
