Ugh, in the garbage?
Some people put them outside in hopes that they'll sprout a few shrooms sometime.

If the cake is totally spent and you're gonna throw it away anyway, drop it in the blender with some cranberry juice and mix it up real well. If you let it sit for about 24 hours then the psilocybin/psilocyn in the mycelium will transfer to the ascorbic acid (vitamin c) in the cranberry juice. I was skeptical of this at first but tried it with a spent cake recently and had great results. DaGeniusE

funny story here, one of my fire ants was casing and when he was done he threw the rest of the colonized substrate in his sink. This is a dirty fire ant contam prone. The sink he used was his garbage disposal with one of those grate type circular thingy's with holes in it. Next he threw out an old salad and some other miscellenous waste. Then he left town for a week or two when he came back to clean his nasty ass house he found that after cleaning the sink there was rhizo growth on the drain stopper thingy. When he lifted it up he found premature pins. I forget what strain it was and he probably doesnt even know but it fruited in the most contamed area of his house I could think of especially because his disposal wasnt working at the time. Just shows what can happen freakishly under certain circumstances.

I wouldnt constanly throw stuff out the window....but sometimes I do throw some shit outside. Especially cause i live in PA. I live right near mushroom houses for gourmet shit. Where I live, the business is really big. And I read that they have killed and got rid of all other mushrooms in the area and in NY cause they were considered to be like weeds, and they only wanted their gourmet shrooms to grow. So...to make a long story short.....I throw some stuff out the window to promote the spread of spores in the NE area. Who knows if itll help....just trying to do my part. I think if people continue to grow these things, eventually they will grow a lot more out in the wild.

Oh....you could also send the cakes flying into a field if you know that cows and stuff graze there. I may try to do that too.
