Is Primordia fuzzy???? i have a cake with little fuzzy white balls...looks like primordia but not sure

when mycelium are deciding if it's time to make babies, they first try to capture all the available food supply before any other fungi have a chance to compete for it.

when you take a cake out of the jar, it will tend to put out fuzzy feelers to see if there is still anything to eat. if not, then the fuzz will tend to clump together and form into mushrooms. sometimes the fuzz will take on an eary crystaline appearance.

too much moisture and mold contamination can also cause fuzzing cakes. don't panic. give them a few more days.

in the feeler stage, the mycelium are also looking for a decrease in temperature, a shortening of the number of hours in the day, a decrease in CO2 and an increase in the humidity level.

most of that can be accomplished for cubensis by simply opening the terrarium and giving it a gentle misting each day. some varieties take more coaxing than others.

its my first cake and im all worried now, so it does tend to be quite fuzzy sometimes??? thanks

thanks for asking that question! I have the same issue with my cakes. I birthed them 4 days ago and have been fanning often. I was misting too. I read on the forum that I may be misting too much...since they are on a bed of perlite it should produce enought RH. I will have to be patient and see. It goes to show if you cruise around the forum enough your question will be answered.
