Kids on leashes
    #6840772 - 04/27/07 11:13 AM (16 years, 10 months ago)

What is your opinion of these things? I just walked by a mother who had her kid restrained by one of these contraptions and it looked so utterly demeaning.

P.S. The kid I saw looked nowhere near as content and happy as the one pictured. In fact, the kid I saw looked downright pissed.

if they gotta put the kid on a leash, they might as well put him down

if you have to leash your kid, you probably shouldnt have one in the first place

i was on a leash when i was a kid.

it wasn't a full harness like that. more like a spiral phone cord with two velcrow wrist bands on either end.

to be honest - i needed it. super hyper kids are way too active to be controlled by one parent. you gotta make a choice, put the kid on a leash in order to keep track of him, or medicate the kid to make him less hyper.

i'm glad my parents chose the leash. i didn't mind it. it was fun being able to run out the slack and then get pulled back, haha.

my paretns used the velcro wrist coiled phon cord thing when i went to disneyworld, because i was a spaced out little kid and always waudered off. It kept me from getting seperated in a crowded place. That was the only time i ever wore one.

but useing them in a store is sad. i think if you use a leash on your kids regularly, you not letting natural selection do its job.

my opinion is that i will never bring a kid to the world in a culture which leashes their children.

bottom line - some kids need leashes.

sorry if you can't see that.

it's not the parents fault, its not the kids fault. sometimes you have overly-rediculously-rambunctions kids (like myself) and older, less active parents (like mine) that simply CANNOT keep up with the youngin.

:headbanger:  Nice.  Rule of thumb.  Don't judge others' parenting.  You're not the best parent either.  Remember that it's all in the ability to adapt.  I'm not even a parent, and I know that!

The word 'need' implies a lot.

thats terrible reasoning. everybody knows a kid's behavior doesn't mirror his future prospects.

i was a crazy little kid that would wander into traffic. now i have a scholarship to university and straight A's, about to graduate w/ two degrees and then get a scholarship to graduate school to get my MBA.

the whole natural selection thing is a dumb argument and a lil' offensive (to me), but its the internet so i'm obviously not ACTUALLY offended.

actually, i might have prefered being on a leash to having been drugged into a stupor...

those drugs messed me up bad, REAL BAD

i have this condtion called essential tremmor, i shake like hell, i can barely eat soup at this point, and when i get older, the only thing ill be good at is being a human paint mixer
