Transferring contaminated agar?

I like a challenge.
i have two horribly contaminated plates. One is a KS from four year old spores, and the second is a CR clone.
Are these even possible to transfer and weed out the competitive molds? I've read of people doing peroxide and bleach dips prior to the transfer (with little and some success respectively). Would it be wiser to transfer from the interior or periphery of the mycelial growth?
I'm willing to go through a bunch of plates if need be.

Never transfer molds. If there's any healthy mycelium, transfer a tiny piece of that from the leading edge of growth. A few days later, transfer again before any molds have had a chance to show up. Repeat a few times and you'll have a clean culture, provided there is any mushroom mycelium on the plate. It should also go with out saying to use a glovebox. Never open a contaminated petri dish in front of a flow hood. RR
