Question (with pics)

This is probably a dumb question, however I had some old BRF cakes in my closet that I never used from this winter. Well anyways, today for one reason or another, one caught my eye, I haven't looked at them since I put them there. The other two are the same however one of them is growing what seems to be mycelium. I'm pretty sure I never inoculated it, however I could be wrong. Now, I'm sure it is probably some form of contam, however it looks an awful lot like mycelium. I'm not growing at the moment, so I was wondering, should I put it in the incubator, or trash it? Sorry for tha bad pictures.

Its alot of waiting if you don't know if its a fungus you tried to put in there! Its been my experience though that if you wait too long the myc goes dormant and is hard to get back to the growth stage again. I'd say start a new batch with regular growth if you want to grow again. It just sucks when you work real hard on it and waste a month not knowing weather growth is gonna happen again.

keep better track of that, especially if you care. write on it with something, why did you make so many jars if you didn't plan to knock 'em up? Looks like those growth spots ( real blurry pic.) are coming from 4 specific areas.

No the thing is, I never used three jars from an old grow. That grow was in the winter. I was just saving the jars in case I want to do a small grow in the future. However, now that winter is over, my closet does get pretty hot and I was surprised that one of the jars looked like what seemed like mycelium. So I was thinking that maybe I had inoculated it by accident? I'm not positive, but it looks more like mycelium then contam. However even if it was mycelium, I have no idea how long it has been there, so I guess it is time to trash it.

might as well to be safe, syringes only go for $15 and get about 5-10 jars. But that is weird, just make the things from now on it just makes sense, put type, date, and how many cc's.

Grow it in a solo cup in the bathroom. Maybe it's an alien life form, waiting to chat with you.

I do label everything I grow, and keep a grow log, however there is always a possibility that something got mixed up. I'm not growing anything right now, so if I put it in the incubator, it wont effect anything, because I have no grows right now. I think I'll keep it in there for a week, and see if the mycelium or contam colonizes more, just out of curiosity. It would be pretty cool if it was a strain.

Unleashing some unknown mystery mold into your house, making it impossible to grow ever again in your house is not worth the few mushrooms you'd get off one old cake.

I have a special room where I do my grows, I keep all my shit sterile and I inoculate with a glove box. If the shit spreads it wont be a big deal, and it definitely will not make it even close to where I will not ever be able to grow again. I know what mycelium looks like, and the pics are bad but it looks like mycelium. I know what cobweb mold is and it looks a lot more like mycelium then anything I have seen.

I'm not growing at the moment so I don't need spore syringes. I have a good job, I don't need to buy syringes because I already have agar plates with all the different mycelium strains that I like, as well as spore prints. I don't need to buy a syringes, that is just a waste of money, unless you are starting out or want a new strain that you don't have.
