UK pressure cooker question

Hi, I'm looking to get a pressure cooker but I'm unsure of the size I'll need. I've seen from previous posts that argos pc's like this are used a lot but I wanted to ask how many 1/2 pint size jars you can actually fit in there. It doesn't look like a lot. I've also got the option to get one that's got an exterior size of 16.5" x 10" with 2 internal baskets of 6.5" x 4" and 7" x 5.75". I reckon this one should be more than big enough but it's a bit pricey so I'm just wondering if it's overkill or worthwhile.

Thanks man, sounds like Tower isn't the way to go. I may go with the big one even though I think it might be more than I need right now.

What one are you going for? and where are you getting it? It's hard getting a decent PC in UK.. Tower is the best but shittest one i can find.. only good cause its bigger than the rest at 7L. Other option is to import a 'All American PC".. which will take ages and will cost a bomb

I'm looking at a second hand one, though I don't know the make of it. It's an old style heavy duty one with a pressure gauge. I think I'm going to go for it as it looks to be better quality than the cheap argos ones.

I can't get the one I was looking at. The seller has lost the valve that goes in the top so it's basically unusable now unless he can find it, which I doubt as he's a bit sketchy. Oh well, I'll just start looking about again.

Lucky day today, I found a pressure cooker thrown out by a charity shop. Looks like it can only hold 4 jars but at least its saved me buying one.

Always a possibility, though it looks fairly sturdy & secure. I'll probably give it a wee test boil at the weekend just to be sure it won't blow up.

Always do a test run. To insure it gets up to 15 psi & how long it will go. Before it runs dry. 90 minutes, is what you want to shoot for. If after 90 minutes, @ pressure, it still contains water. (once cooled) You are in grain spawn heaven.
Also, if it has no trivet. Start looking for something that will work as one. That will elevate jars, as high as possible. Yet still allow the lid to close. Any type wire mesh rack will suffice.

i,ve only ever put one huge jar into it but i think maybe 2 layers of 5 small jars or definately 4 or 5 1 litre jars. although its size does annoy me when ive only got a couple test tubes to sterilize. maybe someone knows where to get a miniature pressure cooker?
nah its great, just no temp gage. but that alone will add £25 to the price and its never let me down. yet.
