if god created everything, who created god?
    #6835691 - 04/26/07 06:19 AM (16 years, 9 months ago)

This question came to me on one of my mushroom trips a while back. I think i was remembering it from a family guy episode, but still, who created god?

I would say we did,
but whatever energy is there is probably as evolutionary as we are...
What if God didn't create everything but everything created God.

I personally believe that humans created god so we don't feel so alone in the universe. Of course, who knows. Maybe god esists, sinners go to hell, and morman is the right religion:tongue2: lol, but seriously, I think i would go religious just in case...

There was something formless and perfect before the universe was born.
It is serene. Empty. Solitary. Unchanging. Infinite. Eternally present.
It is the mother of the universe.
For the lack of a better name, I call it Tao [God].
It flows through all things, inside and outside, and returns to the origin of all things.
The Tao [God] is great. The universe is great. Earth is great. Man is great.
These are the four great powers.
Man follows the earth. Earth follows the universe.
The universe follows the Tao [God].
The Tao [God] follows only itself.

-Lao-Tzu-

If one follows the cause right backwards, one will come to the time barrier. This is where no time exists and where time does make sense in a different matter.
In physics, called singularity, in religion alpha and omega.
Therefore, behind this barrier, the term 'before' doesn't exist, or at least not in a matter, we would define it.
So 'causation' has a different 'look' in those 'states', which permits even into our reality, as it is its foundation and its future

Chuck Norris.

I say that with confidence.

But seriously from what standpoint are you asking this though? Religious or what?

Think of the Earth in context of the endless universe. Dunno how one supreme being could care so much about one small piece of rock ultimately doomed to destruction.

Just me though, and I apologize if I offend you.

Sorry isnt directed at you Bluecoyote meant for the OP

I think the problem with this question comes from the notion that creation means building something out of nothing. God is infinite, without beginning or end. So how could God create something outside of him/herself? God created not by addition, but by subtraction. Think of it in terms of a light projector. The white light of the projector contains all the colors of the spectrum. But if you put a red screen over it, it will block all the colors other than red. Now, if you are giving a slide show of your summer vacation, those slides contain different pigments captured by your camera, which filter the light from the slide projector to create an image. The image is not created from nothing, but rather by subtracting colors from a light source which contains all colors. So too is the universe filtered from the infinite white light of God. All things contain that white light in an incomplete form.

Religious or not, that is an extremely good way of putting it.

man created god, then god got more powerful through constant belief, god brought judgement day, wiped humanity out and got the power to travel back in time before man created god.

ummmm seriously? God has always been there and we are part of his plan. The whole universe was made from nothing in 6 days it didn't evolve from thousands of years on strange energy. Start reading the bible, its full of truth and wisdom. In the last days people will forget how the world was made. Indeed, we are really living in some crazy times and its only going to get crazier. Read the book 23 minutes in Hell. This will scare the hell out of you, you will change your whole attitude just so you can avoid that place. Jesus Christ is Lord and savior and he died on the cross so we can live forever with him. I understand that there are many on here that have a lot of ideas and theories but in the end only the truth will shin. Thanks everyone you are all great.

Simple: God was and always is. Saying that there must have been a creator of God, and a creator of the creator of God, and so on and so on, ad infinitum, is not the argument. Nothing cannot come out of nothing-- there must have been some infinite, unmoved presence in existence in order to birth the universe.

It is my belief that no one has ever contacted God.  He would be too powerful.  I mean if you can't stare at the sun with your naked eye for a long time, is it possible to face God:eek:

That´s ok for you to belief, however if we can use a tool(sunglasses) to look into the sun for a while, why can't we use a "tool" to contact god. Nah that's a terrible comparison .

But think about it; we being part of god and god being a part of us, we could use an introspective to come in contact with "him"

 i agree it is a sloppy comparison in hindsight.  My point is we are still a young race.  We have much more to learn, understand. And, I agree with Derami, a supreme being may not be much interested in us.

But, ahh, if we contact an older, wiser alien civilization, it could radically  change all our beliefs.
