i am a fairly clean person but for some reason my room is always cover in dust. at least once a week I have to overhaul my room to get all the dust out because it gets all over everything in my room and gets inside my computers and x-box. when i clean my room i spray everything down with the cleaner (right on top of the dust) and clean it all off but like i said it always comes back and its always so much. so my question is this, what are some tips you guys have to get rid of all this dust or what is an inexpensive way to help it. i mean its all over everything and i bet its not good to breath in all this dust all the time/ ty

Dude, dust is normal- its like your room taking a fuzzy crap.
I assume I get it as much as you do! But I'm not such a neat freak since I treat most of my things like dirt.

Dust mostly comes from you shedding your dead skin cells.
Pet hair/dander.
Pollen.
I didn't look it up...so I'm sure I'm missing a TON of crap.

I have the same problem. This new building is FULL of dust. I cleaned the bathroom floor and counters last friday and they're covered in dust now.
I used to have an air filter for my old dusty dorm room, but the fan burnt out. It helped a lot. Maybe I'll get another one.
Anyone know if a cheap ionizer/ozone gen would help keep dust down? They sell them on ebay for about 25 bucks.

I've got an Ionic Breeze; it works decent and the ionizer makes everything drop out of the air.
Look at it this way; if you don't see dust accumulate in your house... ...then it's probably all suspended in the air.
Where would you rather have your contams?

No no, the air is just as dusty as the floors and counters. When direct sunlight comes through the window you can see it dancing around in the light.

Well, now imagine how thick it would be if all the dust that had settled in the room was still up in the air.

From what I understand, these ion generators work great at doing what they do, but they're not so great to be in the same room with. In other words, turn it on when you leave the room, turn it off when you return (ie, work/school).
Don't ask me why, I'm too lazy right now to back it up. I just read it a while ago. I'm sure there are some facts somewhere on good ol google.
Anyway, i'd actualy recommend a HEPA filter also, over the ion gererators.
Most dust comes from CARPETS and furniture, skin, pets, pollen, curtains, and beleive it or not, the highway (if you're close to it). I've got the same shitty problem. My room is a dust hellhole. I hate it. HEPA's work good tho, get one that is quiet, with an easy to clean filter.

Ion generators also create a bit of ozone which is not so healthy to be breathing in (at a certain level).
Those with any breathing problems such as emphysema and asthma are supposed to use increased caution with such devices.

Ozone is a very strong oxidizer and can destroy lung tissue/cause cancer. However, at the right levels it does kill a LOT of pathogens and doesn't harm your lungs. It also smells great

i did some research studies for the EPA where they had me run in an ozone chamber. Then they like tested the effects it had on my mildly asthmatic lungs. i definitely noticed a difference.
personally, i don't think ozone generation would be good indoors. but that's for me. some people are seemingly unaffected by it

VACUUM well-- most house dust comes from flooring. You may have a shit vacuum--check to make sure it works well and has a clean, empty collection bag.
THEN
1) Buy one of those $15 generic box floor fans from Walmart or wherever
2) Buy an air filter of similar size-- like the ones used for your home A/C-- 20x20x1 (of course you want a larger than that if your fan is bigger) from grocery store, Walmart, Home Depot or Lowes
3)Attach the filter to the front or rear of the fan in your room
4)Turn the fan on low
Watch the copious amounts of dust get caught up in that filter, and smile when you realise that you are breathing clean air for $20.
It works--

Get a Ionic Breeze. It really helps. Besides that, just sweep/vacuum every 2-3 days.
I would do it every day, i'm just a little clean freak though.

forced-air heating & cooling can create dust problems. if you have this kind of unit make sure to change the filters monthly.

i've heard the ionic breeze, although it may work, is not nearly worth the money. sumbitch is like $200. these other bits of advice are most likely just as effective for a lot cheaper. especially the changing of heat/AC filters and vacuuming.
