Patch casings after fruiting?
    #6830951 - 04/25/07 07:30 AM (17 years, 8 months ago)

My friend made a small casings with field capacity verm only. It was covered with foil and put in an incubator for four days. The mycelium is poking through a little, but it probably should have been patched and put pack in the incubator for a few more days. Well he went ahead and slightly pre-maturily put it in a FC last night with 6 hours of light.

Now that it has been put into the FC should he still patch and mist or just let it fruit?

let it go. when in doubt always let it go.

when beginning my friend once made the mistake of patching too much. ended up killing the myc cus it never grew back thru the surface. never figured out why....

Your title says 'patching after fruiting' and your question asks if you should you 'patch before fruiting'. Which is it?

After fruiting, you can fill in the divots caused by picking, but don't re-patch the whole thing. Prior to fruiting, you can patch the first areas of mycelium to poke through, which helps to even out the pinset. After patching, cover the tray up for a couple of days, then expose to fruiting conditions.
