humidity question

ok well i unfortunatly can't get a digital or mechanical hydrometer at this time. i have cheep light switch panels with humidity reading pas on em. i have a feeling there not accurate at all, and they also only go too 80 percent. thats what they have been staying at since i put em in. my question is what should the inside walls of the FC look like when its at 95% humidity. also how long after fanning does it take for the chamber too re-gain humidity. im currently using a 56 quart tub with 4 inches of perlite in it.

if you have condensation, the air cant absorb anymore water, so misting/humidying would just contribute to a pool int he bottom of your FC. the change in temperature effects how much water the air can absorb, this is what the perlit res is for.
as far as light goes just put them by a window or set them under a lamp thats on. make sure the light doenst heat up the F.C. they dont need a a routine time schedule like MJ. 8 hours a day should do it. mine just sit on the floor and get whatever light they get.
constant exposure to T.V. light isnt good. This may influence your shrooms.

hydrometers are used to measure liquid density, hygrometers measure humidity
there will be a slight dew/mist on the side walls with some possible drips runnin down the sides. if temp conditions are optimal it doesnt take long for humidity to climb back up, a slight mist just before closin can help that out too.

Incorrect. Condensation shows there is a temperature differential between the inside and outside of the terrarium, and nothing else. It doesn't in any way indicate humidity. One needs a hygrometer to tell humidity. There is no way around that.
Asking how to judge humidity without a hygrometer is like asking how to know when you're going the speed limit if your car doesn't have a speedometer. Nobody can answer that. RR
