If one where to powder shrooms, would there be any effect on the potency at all? Anyone know this?

not in my experience....grinding them in a coffee grinder and mixing with melted chocolate has never done me wrong.

Don't know if there is any science behind it but, I've noticed all the mushrooms I've consumed that had been powdered down, seem to be a weaker trip.
Just my experience. I can't give you any explanation on it, but I know for a fact that I do notice a difference in potency.

I have no idea of the science behind it too.. Just sounds like it could affect it.. i'm about to order a ball mill for some pyrotechnic reason, well using this would grind it down to the smallest powder particle size which could be cool if it doesn't fuck it up. Theoretically speaking ofcourse..

Psilocin is the compound that is oxidized when water is removed from the wet mushroom (destroying the pyschoactive properties).
Psilocybin, on the other hand, does not react until (dont quote me on this) about 140F. As long as you keep it in its happy temp range, you can do just about anything you want to it.
There are other factors to consider but that is the quick and dirty answer.

Like for example drying it out in a desiccant chamber in a fridge would help it retain almost all psilocybin rather than drying it at room temp. As long as one does this it should be quite good.

I always grind mine and make tea. Quicker to the punch and just as potent, IME. Always keep them whole though until you're going to ingest. Storing them powdered will cause them to lose potency as more of the precious alkaloids are exposed to air, unless you're vacuum sealing them.

Probably a little psilocybin/psilocin would be loss, but it wouldn't be very much. I've ground my shrooms before, and i've noticed no loss of potency. I think the only problem with grinding is that since there in a powder form, the surface area of the mushrooms have increased, and, if stored incorrectly, can result in the psilocybin/psilocin oxidizing quiker, however, i may be wrong.

About the oxidation part.. if one where to fashion a plastic little baggie for 15 caps of shroom powder and vacuum out all the air and replace it with C02 would potency hold up more than if there was absolutely no air in the packet at all?
I've wondered this one for a while..

I would just wait and powder them when you want to eat them,or powder then and put them in capsules, and store the capsules in a sealed bottle with a few desiccant packets

In a still room, you can easily get a large pitcher, add a cup of vinegar and 1/2 cup of baking soda. Let it foam up and over the top and then settle. The pitcher is now filled with CO2. Pour the heavy gas into your already prepared container w/ capsules and then lid.
Sure it's an extra step each time you open the bottle, but no O2 exposure.

Just something I ripped off the net for all the same reasons you commented on it. I found it creepy and intriguing.
