Question about Incubation

Hello, fellow shrooming community! I just put my 12 jars in my brand new sweet looking incubation chamber. As this is my first time I did not know if I had to shake them so I just shook them a bit and left them alone. Now it has been 24 hours since I inculated them. When should I check up on them because I dont wanna disturb them too much. Is there also any methods to colonize faster I was reading some where that you can flip them upside down, but I don't wanna screw anything up I just need to be patient and let the magic happpen if ya know what I mean The feeling of cultivating is something else makes you a very happy man I just cant wait to indulge in some amazon and golden teacher !

ok first i read you shook the jars, so im guessing your using grain jars, is that correct? cause i also read you said said something about flipin them. ive only heard of that in the pf tek inwhich you shouldnt shake the jars. also give them about 5 days and see where there at. try and keep em dark at all times. also what are you incubating them at?

There is no need to keep them dark. I'd suggest tossing out that sweet looking incubation chamber and let them colonize on a bookshelf at 74F to 78F. Don't shake ANY jars at inoculation, and don't shake pf jars ever. I also don't buy into the turning them upside down thing either unless you made them too wet and they're water logged on the bottom. The CO2 exchanges just fine out the top during colonization via the air currents that are created by the heating that is caused by thermogenesis. RR

Thank you very much for the input. I hope I did not mess anything up to bad when I shook them they did not break up at all. If I store them on a bookshelf it will take up to 2 weeks longer wont it? I also thought during the incubation period they were not allowed to be in indirect sunlight?
*EDIT* I have a shelf under my computer it would keep it a little bit over room temp. Would that be a fine place even if it might be a tad bit dusty.

They won't be unless your bookshelf is right in front of a window. Just regular room light won't hurt, just don't let them be in the sun. They will take a little bit longer to colonize at room temp but not much plus contams thrive in a higher temp environment.
