Spraying alcohol everywhere

I have had contamination issues in the past. I am refining my sterile techniques. I think the inoculation part is pretty well executed but I fear that the growing environment needs to be fine tuned.
I spray my whole lab 5 times a week with alcohol, trying to kill any bacterias that could result in contamination of my jars. Besides, I also have a couple of plants growing in that room's closet. I also have a fan shooting the air out of the room for circulation. Unfortunately, this room as no window access so I can't get fresh air in. Do these lovely plants increase the chance of getting contamination? My girlfriend thinks I'm crazy spraying all that alcohol over the place, is she right? Am I losing time and alcohol?
Any suggestions ?

It's an explosion hazzard, a fire hazzard, and worthless against airborne contaminants because it settles out of the air too fast. The only way alcohol kills cells is when it penetrates the cell wall, and then evaporates back out. Alcohol by itself, if it doesn't penetrate the cell wall isn't toxic. That's why 70% alcohol works better than pure alcohol. The water 'tricks' the cell wall into admitting it, and then the alcohol evaporates back out from the inside, destroying the cell. Cells admit moisture by osmosis, and therefore exclude toxins such as alcohol unless water is mixed in with it.
Try using oust instead to sanitize the air.
Plants and mycology in the same area don't mix well. Plants attract predators and insects, and generally are swarming with bacterial colonies and molds. In fact, mold such as trichoderma are beneficial to plants. RR

Spraying alcohol 5 times a week obviously doesn`t seem to help or work. It`s hard to tell. How is your growing chamber made? Maybe it`s a problem with water that you use for humidity...

If you have your jars made properly and you have sterile procedure down for inoculation you should be seeing very little if any contamination in jars, spraying alcohol everywhere is not going to do you any good and is just wasteful,as RR said oust is a better air sanitizer anyway(It also detonates with the power to melt a human face in a split instant when exposed to flame ) Be careful....wait PLENTY of time for it to settle before you go playing with fire and NEVER use it in a glovebox

Allright! Thanks for the tips. I'll find oust! And simply install a shelf in another room for my jars!
RR thanks for the accurate and fast response, as usual. Is the DVD out soon?
Now I have to face the evidence that I was a fool in front of my gf.
