Mushroom hunting with Jenny

Jenny came to visit me on Saturday and we had a blast biking, hiking, and hunting mushrooms.
It's been a little dry here, and it is still a little early in the season, but we did find a few morels.
In the same area the morels were growing I found these Pluteus.
At first I thought they were Pluteus cervinus, but the smell is a little off. I think P. cervinus smells like raw potatoes, but these have a more earthy aroma. They were found growing from well-rotted half-burried wood in the flood plane of a river. I am certain they are the same species as this Pluteus I found in late April of last year in similar habitat.
We also ran across some Spring polypores.
And some Mica Caps.
When I pointed out these Polyporus squamosus, and identified them as edible, Jenny had to have a taste.
She took a few of the small edible one's home hith her.
On the way back to town, My dad called to report that He had found sixty one Morels in the same spot we found these 275 last year.
I was so jealous! Jenny and I only found a handful. While I was talking to my dad, Jenny snapped this picture.
Later in the day we went to another spot and found these parasitic plants.
And Jenny found a nice grouping of Devil's Urn. This is the largest cluster I have seen.
Jenny also found a tree shee liked.
We finished the day at BW3's drinking beers and eating wings with Jenny's family. It was a truly wonderful day.
I hope your butt is not still sore Jenny...

Hmmm.... Sounds like Dan is holding out on all the details of what exactly happened in the woods...
Hehehe, or maybe he meant the bike riding... or maybe that is just a convenient cover up.

Your pluteus keys out to Pluteus flavofuligeneus in Mushrooms Demystified, but your mushroom looks nothing like that, and that ID is probably wrong.
It looks a lot like Pluteus atromarginatus, but I don't see the dark margins on the gills. Maybe those only show up when the mushroom gets older.

Unfortunately, that is the clearest picture I can post of the Polyporus squamous pins.
I'm just teasing Jenny about the sore butt thing. We rode about 28 miles Saturday. Both of us had sore butts.

So when you go mushroom hunting, everybody ends up with a sore butt? That's different.
Happy mushrooming!
