Dead cakes outside?
    #6824773 - 04/23/07 08:25 PM (16 years, 10 months ago)

hi, i put my cakes outside a month or 2 ago in hope they might grow some shrooms. Unfortunatly the weather was bad and cold under 50s (it even snowed a couple days) up until this past week. Would the cakes in the soil have lost any possiblitiy in growing now that its warm out.

Mycellium is remarkably tenacious, you never know when it will survive. Make sure to water them frequently and check for fresh growth. I planted an outdoor patch last year and I thought that it dried out and died, but after watering the patch I scraped aside some dirt and found fresh Mycellium growing. So yeah, you never know.

Mine were actually just an experiment. I took a cake from a bulk grow I was doing, took it out to a nice fertile parkway across the street, dug up a small patch, crumbled my cake in the patch, forgot to water it, thought the cake dried out, watered it, watched the mycellium grow, picked and ate shrooms.

well first i didnt get any real growth even after 22 days. Only a couple small sprouts. And my wife found them and told me to pput em out. Do u think they were bad cakes if they didnt grow any after that long?
