Is this safe to eat?
    #6827129 - 04/24/07 11:28 AM (17 years, 8 months ago)

Well, i grow shrooms on hpoo substrate without casing and once they started to pin i see some green mold on the surface over the mycelium. I quickly cut it of with a sterile knife and misted it hard with 3% peroxide/water. The next day i see just a little green mold so i killed it like the other day. From then on there wasnt any mold so i picked the mushrooms. Now is it safe to eat them and grow the second flush from that substrate?
Thanks

Wrong forum, but green molds are not harmfull to healthy humans and mushrooms don't suck up contaminants from the substrate. Next time, toss out substrates that mold. The spores that are released make future grows a thousand times more likely to contaminate, ruining your future crops. It's not worth saving them. You can plant the contaminated substrate outdoors in a shady spot with some bagged cow manure and they usually recover and grow there.

they're probably safe to eat but I would pitch that substrate. dumpster tek that shit. Geen mold is permanant once you see it and it will mess up all your future grows, believe me.
