ARE MY MUSHROOMS CONTAMINATED?
    #682708 - 06/16/02 06:05 PM (21 years, 8 months ago)

My mushrooms are doing good and are about 2 inches tall, but there is blue shit growing on the casing. It was there before so I removed it, and it came back. There are lots of shrooms growing, but not any in the spot where the blue is. I can't really tell if it is just bluing. I need lots of responses to this. thanks...

It could be some kind of bruising if you have a lot of exposed substrate or mycelium. Well, ugh, we cant really tell you without a picture or anything but it doesn't sound too good!

Yeah, there is a lot of mycelium exposed on the top of the casing. I removed more of the blue stuff last night and it has not come back. About a week ago i accidently dropped the tray and it fell to the floor cracking the cake in half, before there were shrooms. The cake is fine, just broken in half, it didn't damage it I don't think. I'll post a picture up in a bit. Thanks
