What dug up the garden???

A friend of a friend had some leftover jars and manure and decided it might be fun to throw them in a shady garden to see what might happen...I'm not sure what "might" have happened, but what DID happen, was that something came along and dug the whole patch up...What terrible type of varmint would commit such a heinous crime, and are there any tips for preventing such devastation???

Sounds good to me! If it isn't to much trouble, you might even want to put one over the top of the fence as well!

Well there's nothing to put a screen around...The bed was destroyed...I guess I was just wondering if this is a common occurrence, as I haven't read much about outdoor casings being lost to animals...As for pics...imagine a hole in the ground and all the casing material missing...Figure it was probably a raccoon, but not exactly sure as to how to deter such behavior...
