Good Terrarium?
    #6826954 - 04/24/07 10:43 AM (17 years, 8 months ago)

I don't have the skills, or materials to make my own terrarium. Would either of these be good for a terrarium? and should I do anything to them to help the fruiting process?[image][/image][image][/image]

Go to Wal-Mart and get you a 5 dollar styrofoam cooler. Get a piece of plexiglass and cut a hole in the lid the size of the glass. Get some caulk and put that baby on. Fill the bottom of the cooler with 1-2 inches of damp perlite. Cheap, effective fruiting chamber. Just fan it out 2-3 times a day and lightly mist the walls.

I like that orange one. since it already has holes in it. Just put 3 inches of perlite on the bottom and 3 cakes in there. or use the one with the black hood but just drill holes in it or put a sheet of aluminum foil on top and poke a dozen pencil sized holes.

if you did it this way there would be no need for fanning/misting.

do I wet the perlite on the bottom? I forgot if you need to do anything to the perlite.

yup just put perlite in a strainer and run water over it like 5 times and then while its still dripping alot put it in your FC. you need 3-5 inches on the bottom. the trick is to get it drippy but you don't want any sitting water on the bottom. so basicly just use a strainer and put it under the sink till you get the stuff real wet and let the water leak out untill you just get little drips.
