i guess i always try and put a bit of entertainment into my answer, nothing as standard though.

i dont know about you guys but my generation in the south of england have a disease. the disease is uber politeness and is employed on the phone with taxi operators, peoples parents (actually that one is RL) and employers and the like. im not going to go through the exact tone but rest assured it is queens english nice boy with sugar coated pleasantness on top and with we arent up to any kind of no good and never have been panache. it is actually an art form and constantly hilarious to anyone around the person on the phone doing it. it is nevertheless, still, an absolute unflinching ESSENTIAL for these circumstances. to not perform as such is to fail. happy days

I used to call people to conduct customer surveys, and there's three things you can say to get the fuckers to never call you again:

1) NEVER call this number again. It's important to say never!
2) Put me on your Do Not Call List.
3) Call this number again and I'll pursue legal action.

Be as nice as possible, whenever people were pricks to me I'd always schedule them for a callback at an obscene hour

I have a friend who does this,, he's like a different person if he's phoning anyone he doesn't know.
Makes me laugh...

I like being quite loud/cheerful in those situations + myself.
