Colonized casings look like Stroma Overlay? Pics
    #6826169 - 04/24/07 03:01 AM (17 years, 8 months ago)

OK, so following the advice posted by Agar and RR many times I have done the following:

Spawned Rye to pasteurized coir substrate: 1 qrt rye to 2 qrt core. Gave that about 5 - 6 days to fully colonize and take over the coir 100%until the myc looked feathery. I then cased with 1/2" 50/50 mix and threw foil back on for 4 days. Tonight the casings are completely feathery again like 1/4" shards of sharp pure white glass everywhere. Should I have cased deeper? Does it sound like they are ready to fruit? Temps are around 76. They seems to be plenty moist.

My chamber is here:[image][/image]

For fruiting I bought a cycle timer and installed a 6" duct fan out of the bottom of the chamber and drilled 2" holes in the top of the chamber. My plan is to run the fan for 7 min every 3 hrs 19 min for FAE and put the Ultrasonic on the cycle timer for 3 min every hour. Any advice on that? Should the Ultrasonic run a little more often?

Thanks!

Expose to fruiting conditions. That means 12/12 bright fluorescent light or light from a bright window. Massive amounts of air exchange. Constant air exchange is superior to only running a fan a few times per day. You also want a slight 'turbulence' in the air at all times to ruin the day for molds, and you want high humidity. The ideal conditions are constant fresh air, turbulent moving air, bright high frequency lighting such as 'natural daylight' fluorescent, and near 100% humidity.

There is no stroma or overlay in your picture.
