240-250mL is half a pint. just using 1/2 a cup of verm and 1/4 cups of brf and water for each jar is good. READ THE TEKS.

It should always be a 2:1:1 ratio verm:water:BRF

I disagree. The water absorption depends on the type of vermiculite, so it actually hardly any time will be a 2:1:1 .

This ratio never failed me despite the type of vermiculite I was using. This is also the ratio described in the original PF tek.

Haha. "What's the best ratio of watter to water?" Hmmm.
Look at the teks, people.

Anno does have a point...
there are several different sizes of Vermiculite.
Chunky, Medium and Fine grade Vermiculite...with some inbetween sizes thrown into the mix.
If your substrate is too wet...it will take longer to colonize.
If your substrate is way too wet...it might not colonize at all.
If you substrate is too dry...it might not colonize at all.
always test your brf/verm substrate in your hand when you are first starting out working with it...
if it feels just slightly moist...your good to go!~
then load your jars with it.

there is photos of coursed verm on the ' PF tek for simple minds ' next to a ruler.
If its medium, i would use 2,1,1.. works for me.
