this is a little strange. Perhaps there could be a symbiotic relative to this funky fungus!! Wouldn't that be peachy?!

no problem... but im wondering if byletting this thing grow out ill be getting small amounts of FAE? or if the roots will cause any problems to the mycellium underneath

if its small it probably won't do any real harm. but if you're worried just pluck it.

I say let it grow out and see what happens. Yeah, it could end up being a waste of possible mushrooms if the plant takes over.. but if they grew fully together that would be awesome.
It would also be pretty neat to let the plant grow enough to ID it.

1 hour is fine, but 90 minutes is even better. so it could very well be the rye. don't start timing until pressure reaches to 15... 45 minutes is too short.
just curious, did you use jars or bags and what size?

Maybe It will reduce the need for FAE since it produces O2.... and if not it's still kinda cool. I say leave it!

Since plants use CO2 (which is bad for mushrooms) and produce O2 (which is good for mushrooms) it could theoretically work out in your favor to leave it. However, it might also take up space that could be used for mushrooms or invite contaminants. I would leave it just because it's cool.
