Fruiting without casing
    #6823910 - 04/23/07 04:25 PM (17 years, 8 months ago)

if one had a fully colonized jar (whole brown rice, psy. cube.), could they fruit it without casing like a pftek cake?

If one could get the cake out of the jar in one piece, one could certainly fruit it just like a PF. It wouldn't hold as much water, though.

Why not just dump it in a tray and fruit without casing? More surface area, bigger first flush.

I would case it with 50/50 peat verm.

And for the benefit of all of us who are reading and wondering this, what else might one have to do in order to use peat moss in junction with another ph-neutral substance as our casing? (I.E. Add calcium carbonate or something else?)

This would help all of us who are also trying to search for this information at the time... In more posts, it's more useful, bottom line.

Thanx in advance to whoever!

What? If you're testing its pH, make sure it's over 6.5, though neutral is good. That's what the additives are for.

If you get peat moss potting mix, it's already pH balanced. Mix that half and half with verm (which is neutral, of course), and you're fine. I don't see what the problem is.

Plus, this is in about forty thousand of the most visible teks.
