Yellowing Myc on casing
    #6822229 - 04/23/07 08:30 AM (17 years, 8 months ago)

If some of the myc and knots popping through a casing are yellowing slightly what could be causing it? I've read that over misting and/or peroxide could be to blame but haven't seen a definitive answer.

as long as its just light yellowish i belive that is caused from excessive moisture and its not that big of a deal

Also, if a cake in the same greenhouse is showing a lot of bluing would this be a sign of too much moisture also? Could it be excessive airflow?

bluing is bruising its from handling the cakes to much. this also shouldnt be to big of a deal but try not to handle the cakes if you dont have to.

That was considered, but this case would not involve any handling. Water and air would be the only aggresors.

Nevermind. I just read some posts saying that blueing cakes are prolly from dehydration. Funny how it's so hard to find a happy medium of humidity that won't oversaturate casings and won't leave cakes dry when growing both together.

2 level GH. 2 Coolmists, 1 blowing on each level. Those alone get humidity at about 95%. Ultra for 36 secs twice an hour. Condensation is not very severe although water does accumulate at the bottom. Pain in the ass too, cuz it's in too tight of a spot to soak it all up.
