Well if you deep scratch now you will delay your crop...but if you don't you'll have an irregular and smaller first flush. This has happened to me when I let my casing dry out and also when I have let my mycelium matt the casing surface. I typically just let the flush proceed without scratching and focus on hydrating my casing. Or if it's due to matting then I case the middle of the tray and allow the outer lying shrooms to mature. Everything comes back into phase by the second flush.

Why not take it out of the pan and put it on a cookie sheet upside down. That way, the pins on the sides and underneath can mature. It shouldn't be a problem if no pins are on the top anyway...right
