Mycelium colonization area in karo tek

How much, roughly in percentage, can one expect to see of visible mycelium in a solution of karo and water per the angryjslice method? And, at what percent could one expect to use the solution to inoculate with? If there's very sparse visible colonization in the karo, would it suffice to specifically gather the visible patches in a syringe and use that for inoculation? Thank you on behalf of a friend.

Mycelium doesn't grow too well in Karo. It will generally look thinner than it would in dex/malt extract or honey. Wait for the mycelium cloud to be 20-30% of the solution. Break the mycelium up before loading into a syringe. You can use 2-3cc per quart jar, but this depends on your water content. You can make your jars a little drier than normal if you want to inoculate with more than 3cc. You want to avoid having standing water in your jar, as it can increase the chance of bacterial contamination.

Would it or would it not work, if someone wanted to get a bit of a head start, to suck up a piece of mycelium, and then break it up by shaking once it's in the syringe? i.e., well before 20-30% colonization.
