several times a day. i used to do mine atlest like 6 times. as far as the perlite, i never had too wet it after the initial rinsing when i put it in. the misting was more than enough to keep at or above saturation (i actually had to drain out the excess once during that grow).
I've done alot of reading, but i'm not an expert by anymeans; i only did 3 grows in a fruiting chamber (b4 i moved on ), and only 1 was with perlite, so don't take my word as gospel...

I've been doing fruiting chambers for about 2 years now and I have always achieved best results with just opening the lid once a day and never misting.
If you're opening the lid several times a day, I think that it affects the humidity. When misting, I either noticed no difference or caused the caps of the mushrooms to become soggy and nasty.

Mist and fan several times daily. Drill holes in the bottom of the tub to make sure no standing water is in the perlite. In fact, drill holes all over the tub for air exchange between fanning. RR

Here's a scene on terrarium construction from my soon to be released video. Three to five inches of rinsed and well drained perlite will provide humidity in the upper nineties. Drill holes in all six sides. Be sure to put spacers under it so air can circulate all the way around. You want air percolating up from the bottom, because it will be drawn into the low pressure air in the chamber, via the perlite and it will be humidified as it travels through the perlite.
The theory of operation is that air currents travel from high pressure to low, or cold to warm, thus air will be drawn up through the cool, moist perlite and into the slightly warmer air in the terrarium itself, providing constant circulation. RR

well my cakes are in mid fruit now so i dont think im gonna drill holes in it this flush. as for the perlite i have down an inch layer of rinsed and strained perlite with no standing water. then i have another inch layer of dry perlite. is that sufficent enough or should i put down more perlite?

id go with what RR said.. 3-5 inchs of well rinsed and drained perlite. i started out with only 2 and couldnt get my humidity above 86% added another bag and its steady around 95%.
Why do u have a layer of dry perlite? i dont think that does anything at all for you.

I found that 5 inches of perlite is what works for me.

i dnt know where u read that but im sure its not rite. the moist perlite in a monotub takes care of all your humidity issues.

no just be careful. its best not to mess with your cakes much while they are fruiting but im sure that dry layer of perlite will absorb water from the wet layer and really bring down your humidity level witch will result in very poor fruiting.
do u have a humidity gauge in your fc?

Take your cakes out tonight, drop them into a pot of cold tap water and let them float around in it while you remove ALL the perlite and rinse it under the faucet in a strainer. Dry perlite does nothing for you. When it finishes draining, put it back in the FC, and then remove the floating cakes from the water, rinse them gently under the faucet and put them back in. Doing the above won't hurt the pins as long as you keep the air exchange up for an hour or two until they dry off. RR
