Light Vs Heat
    #6815744 - 04/21/07 11:44 AM (17 years, 8 months ago)

Ok so this dude i know is cultivating shrooms (PF-tek cakes), and I have tried searching for the answer to this ? but cant seem to find it.

His FC is in a closet, and has had light on it for 12on/12off for three days. When the light is on in the closet the temp (as measured inside the FC is around 78-79. When the light is off it comes down to about 74. After searching I have read some posts that suggest light really isnt that important. Should he keep the light on for less time (mind you it is at the top of the closet and the real problem is that he shuts the closet door in order to sleep... which raises the temp to 78-79) Is he worse off with that much light exposure if it is getting that warm in the FC? Will this delay his pinning? Should he only have 6 hours of light? Thanks

I guess the bottom line ? is what is more important for pinning and fruiting....light or perfect FC temps?

Dear Light412,

Maybe you can have both LIGHT and constant TEMPERATURES.

Try using a light bulb with a much lower wattage .... like 20watts or lower .... there will be enough light to stimulate pinning and to let the fruiting bodies know which way is up ..... and temperature with your closet door closed may stabilize at 76 degrees .... should work out well for you.

Rico

It's cooler at night in nature anyway. Cubensis is known to grow just fine in higher temperatures. Everything will probably go just fine.

Reason:
I don't have any idea what the shouting is about, but you really need to chill. If you don't like the advice, then don't take it. Flaming isn't allowed in cultivation. Period.
