Some king oysters and pics and some more... 1

Hola, here are some pics of my last eryngii grow. It´s a wild clone on poplar sawdust, wheat bran and gypsum. After full colonization it was cased and cold shocked for a week. The pics are from the second flush, the first didn´t perform very well due to some very high temps that dried everything out.

The FC is just a platic bin with lid and I mist like 2-5 times daily.
And here is just an off topic pic from my last morel hunt:

Saludos.

Thanks guys!
The morels were found in Europe (Spain). I´m in the North-center of Spain at 1000 meter over sea level. They were found in a humid oak forest near a river the 19th of April. We are at the same latitude as New York (more or less).

Yes Fabio, they tasted very good but can´t be compared with the wild ones I recolect every autum. It´s a matter of the substrate, something else must be added to get that characteristic unique flavor. Now I´m working with the substrate additive flavor issue and the fruitbody appearance problem. If I want to sell them in a near future I need to get them to look like in nature and taste like in nature.
Un saludo

Looks good. But why did you decide to case? Did you run an uncased contol?

I cased because it´s easier to fruit that way. Consider I don´t use any humidifiers and such and since I fruit this guys almost at open air, it´s better and easier to keep things moist with a casing layer than without it. An uncased substrate would never have fruited in the conditions I have the shrooms cause it would have dried out in a matter of hours.

They grow on dead Eryngium campestre roots and in some kind of Betula dead roots too. In humid areas with no shadow at all, sometimes you find them pushing up stones. They can stand heavy wind, rain and strong sun without suffering at all, I think it even make them better. They are tough!!! So I would say it might be a matter of adding some "rooty" additive to the substrate.

What were the high temperature for the first flush and what happen to it? Also how, and at what temperature did you use to cold shock for one week? Did you case after the cold shock?

High temps were a matter of having the wood stove at full potencial, mushrooms were growing well but dried and stopped growing in one day. A friend of mine that was visiting us and lives in a big city was so excited about having a wood stove that she had to burn all the possible wood before leaving us. The bags were cased, incubated and then cold shocked outside inside a plastic bin then brought inside for fruiting and fruitbody development (inside the temps were of 15-20ºC). Temps for the cold shock were like 5ºC.

How long did you hold 5 degrees? Did you mist the casing at all after casing was applied?

The casing layer was applied moist and I didn´t mist until they were in fruiting mode. I´ve got 4 flushes out of those casings. I can´t tell what the humidity was cause I didn´t measure it, but I figure out maybe between 70-100% RH. After each flush the FC was closed till new pins formed to avoid excesive evaporation and drying. After new pins formed the FC´s lid was opened again.

Test fruiting from Semilanceata's spores. Grown at 55-60F in diffuse natural light. The colder temps and/or the lighting gave them very dark caps.

Damn dude! So can you give us the parameters and substrate info for the latest grow there? Just wondering if you made any changes since you said;

And you als mentioned adding roots to the substrate. Anyway, great looking mushrooms there
