When applying the word “natural” to Psilocybe habitat you are delving into relatively ambiguous territory, considering the prevailing habitat for cyanescens in the PNW as principally being restricted to man made environments. Essentially this is the same for a species like P. cubensis as well, cow pastures can hardly be considered a “natural” environment.

I agree with your point there. I don't believe i ever stated that this species (or any) are natural or from a completely natural environment. Not many things today are, its a shame too.:(

not cyans, but look very much like something in the realm of psilocybe caerulipes.

From looking and reading about both cyans and caerulipes, i would lean torwad them looking, growing, and showing textures similar to cyans. They were yellowish when new, grew in anywhere from plane to convex caps (none showed and conic or umbonate properties at all, norcampanulate shaped at any age)

well they aren't cyans. so, at least, you don't wonder in that direction.
im not actually saying they ARE caerulipes either. but if they ARE active psilocybes, and they pics dont quite say enough, I'm going on your word thart you KNOW them to be active, then they are caerulipes, or something of that limited ilk.

As Shrum821 said, watch out for galerinas being mixed in there. They share a similar habitat to the wood loving Psilocybes, and can look similar. All it would take is 1 or two mixed in with your collection to send you to the hospital or the morgue. Though all I see in your pictures are some spectacular bluing Psilocybes.

Wow. well, the next time i see them around i will try to gather a print to be sure. Thanks for the warning too, these mushrooms do look very much alike. As i mentioned earlier, it is unlikely for the mushrooms to be differing from one another. They grew thick next to each other, on large patches of mycelium-woven mulch, these patches did not contain any other life form, fungal or plant.

Yep, it's unlikely that there are other species mixed in, but in PMOTW by Paul Stamets there is a picture of galerinas growing side by side with psilocybes, and mjshroomer has posted similar pictures before.
You should be very psyched about your find though.

Those mushrooms are.... purple.
Very interesting collection. All should show blue bruising and a purple/brown spore print.

Dan was moderator- he knows the rules.
Specific locations are not allowed, but City or County is perfectly fine. Even if you were to give a specific park name- as long as it is a VERY large park, and well known, the info will likely not be edited.
The reason for these rules is our protection. Not everyone who lurks here is an ally.

I dont think more detailed location makes much of a difference, but anyone who has any more info on these caerulipes, i would like to do more study on them.

Is that so? Have you thought about it?? What if you posted the location of your patch publicly, and a fed was reading, and decided to call up that cities station, and tip of some cop to go wait around at your patch?

alot of locations in the pnw are watched closely because people have big mouths.
take oregon for example, in season, many prime coastal azure locations are patrolled to the point that you can EXPECT to be searched if you walk around the area looking like a hippy and try to leave.
often they will watch you from hidden places wile you wander.
im pretty sure theres also a case of forum member from GA who ratted out people after getting caught indescretely frequenting a patch near a school. I wont mention greater details.

hahaha...
That why i say it doesn't make a difference whether you know where this location might be... Meaning I'm not going to reveal it, guess you didn't quite get that hint. Enjoy your future hunts!
