Anybody know of a good anitbacterial cream/lotion?
    #6807499 - 04/19/07 05:17 AM (16 years, 10 months ago)

I was wondering if anybody can suggest a good disinfectant lotion/cream that I could use on my hands and arms so they could be clean while I do my casings, mixing spawn with substrate, etc...

I have been using rubbing alcohol on my arms (gloves on my hands)
I do think rubbing alcohol is healthy for your skin

so if you have used a product similar to what I am looking for, please post it up!

Chlorhexidine Digluconate is good. It's the pink stuff dentists give you to swill your mouth out with. You can buy it with surfactants added to make it soapy.

Iodine is one of the best antiseptics there is. It does the same thing to bacteria as cyanide does to the ATP chain in human mitrochondria.

Bleach is also great and you can sterilise drinking water with it.

No one ansiseptic is best. All have a spectrum of bacteria and spores they cover. The spectrums are never complete. Using more than one can help cover more of it.

Always give antiseptics time to work. Once your hands and forearms are covered in foamy stuff wait 30 - 60 seconds before washing it back off. Use a clock to check you've actually waited.

Or you can just get a bottle of purell hand sanitizer for really cheap at any walmart, supermarket, or pharmacy. About $2.

Exactly what you are looking for.  Purists will want the kind without moisturizers, but they fuck up your hands when they remove all the oils.  Aloe Vera is my friend.  :mushroom2:
