Panaeolus Cyanescens
    #6808475 - 04/19/07 11:54 AM (17 years, 8 months ago)

I have read that Panaeolus Cyanescens is the best known Magic Mushroom in the world. I've checked the spores, they are more expensive AND not on most spores store. I was wondering if anyone has any comments on this specific species and is it hard to cultivate? is it worth the extra money?

is there a specific method for Pans? I haven't attempted to grow cubies either. my first cultivation is going to be memorable. I figure might as well go big.

Cubes will grow if given the chance.  Pans need some babying.  Familiarize yourself with proper casing procedures and do a few trial runs with cubes first.  You'll be glad you did.

And make sure you post mad pics of your first pan cyan harvest.  I love seeing those things.

I'd stick with cubes for your first grow, that way you get familliar with the process. You can stare at pictures on the internet all day long, but until you do it your self, you really have no idea what hyphal knotting looks like, what mycellium looks like, what contams look like etc. Plus starting with cubes will give you a chance to fine tune your fruiting chamber. If your fruiting chambers humidity fluctuates while growing cubes, you'll still end up with a harvest. With P.Cyans, being much more picky, if you don't have everything dialed in right you run the risk of failure, which can be very disappointing. It's sort of like wanting to riding a bike, you gotta be able to ride with training wheels (cubes) before moving on to two wheels (p.cyans).

i'd go with pans. why?

it's different, its harder...

but if you manage to do it successfully just think how easy cubes would be.

So what do pans like as far as humidity? Fluctuations good, bad? Can RH be too high? I've basically read that Pans are grown in the same conditions as cubies.

So what aspect takes "babying"? What could you do to keep from getting fruits that cubensis would tollerate?

Walk... THEN fly:)

Besides-- the literal trip isn't different than cubes, unless there's some special alkaloid in Pans I'm unaware of.

Grow cubes-- you'll learn 90% of what you need to do from them first

Doing a pan cyan tek for cubensis is overkill. You would be wasting effort that could be spent better elsewhere.

don't quite understand you.

i meant do a pan cyan tek for PAN CYANS.

then if he ever grew cubes it'd be so much easier. not saying he should still follow the pan cyans tech, just cubes require less babying.

I have grown cubes for some time now and pans are giving me a little trouble... let me give you some tips if you are going to go with pans.

1) You need Poo..... Hands down, for a decent flush / any flush you are going to need some manure in your sub.

2) While pans require humidity they require a LOT of FAE, this is where most people fail, it is one thing to have the humidity but to have a constant FAE is critical.

3) Pans fruit in slightly higher temperature conditions then cubes do.

4) When making a sub. level make sure it does not go above 2"

5) Pans need to be cased, VERY VERY thin layer for this.

They are worth it in the end but IMOP stick to cubes till you get the basic hang of inoculation, agar work, fruiting, pinning and what not. You will need all the basic cube knowledge x2 for pans IMOP
