Almost fully colonized...now what?

12 jars PF-Tek style, BRF/Verm, almost all fully colonized, and looking purty!!
Now, I am not sure what to do, should I case them (this is my first grow ever)? And if not, I am not sure how to dunk the cakes properly, is there any easy explanation for dunking?
Also, I am not sure I fully understand the way flushes work coinciding with the dunking.
Long story short, aside from building and making the fruiting chamber work properly (already got it built and working grand!), I am not sure what to do with my cakes

You can case them or fruit as cakes. Better off to just fruit as cakes, just make sure to dunk and roll in verm to get the most out of them...without that step you'll get poor results.
You could probably get higher yield from the casing, but it's an added step that some newbies wish to avoid. So, it's up to you. There are plenty of guides for anything you need.

I just submerged mine in a cooler full of cold water and ice. worked out well. left them in there for 12hrs and then rolled them in moist verm and fruited. did the trick

Wait one full week after full colonization. Birth the cakes. Wash under the faucet to remove the loose parts of the verm barrier, but don't worry about the parts that are colonized. Soak under water in a large pot 24 hours. Use whatever you have to hold them under water so they don't float. Rinse again after the soak, then roll in dry verm. Place in terrarium, and an hour later mist well to get the dry verm nice and damp. RR

What he said .
And if you're feeling adventurous: 50/50 Casing Tek. I did this on my second attempt at growing and had awesome results. My first attempt was birthing 3 pf cakes(dunk/roll, the works), and I was very disappointed with the results.
Good luck, and if you're not sure of something and can't find the answer, we're here to help;).

do i have to worry about damaging the colonized cakes? rinsing them might obviously tear them up right? how do you know is the right amount for the misting of the dry verm afterwards? also, you say to wait 1 week after full colonization, but am i to initiate pinning also?

u wont tear up the cakes jus be gentle and use rr's dunking method. giving them the extra week lets the mycelium get a stronger foothold on you cakes. jus mist a little to get the verm moist u dont want droplets on your cakes... when u put them in your fc put the divet side up

The cakes seem fragile, but they are pretty hearty when they are FULLY colonized. The biggest NOOB problem is being too impatient, and trying to fruit the cakes way too early.
Roger Rabbit is the man, so follow his advice to the letter. Wait a full week after the cakes seem done... What seems like wasting time will actually reward you greatly!
The divet side is the "bottom" of the cake when it's in the jar. It gets a divet from the curved bottom of the jar. Basically, flip the cake over before putting it in your FC (fruiting chamber).
Another noob note... FAE (Fresh Air Exchange) is VERY important to keep away cobweb mold and produce nice yummy fruits!
GOOD LUCK!

k, i have a shit ton of holes drilled in my FC (in the same fashion as RRs tek/example showed). shouldn't it be self FAEing? or will 12 cakes at once be too much for natural FAE to take place?

Well, you need to balance FAE with high humidity... While your design may provide plenty of air, it may also remove too much humidity. Just mist everyday, or keep up with your perlite to maintain the right moisture.
I was worried at first too, but looking back, most of my worries were much ado about nothing. As long as your cakes avoided contams in the jar, you should be fine.

groovy, thanks all, also, do i still need to initiate pinning after colonization? it says so in the Tek I have.

i guess i dont get your question.. as soon as you birth your cakes rinse them off good. submerge them over night. roll in verm and put in the fc... you are initiating pinning by birthing them. if you mean trying to get them to pin while they are innucubating. no..
